How You Can Help

Want to help local wildlife, but don’t know how? Below are some opportunities that may be of interest.

  1. Volunteer! We always have a need for volunteers to assist with outreach events, to help with office activities, and to help with field work. For more information, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Paula Becker at [email protected].
  2. Become a Maryland Master Naturalist - Master Naturalists are volunteers who have gone through an intensive naturalist training. Learn more about the program on our Maryland Master Naturalist page.
  3. Create Wildlife Friendly Backyards - No matter how small your backyard space is, you can make it wildlife friendly by following simple steps on our Wild Acres page. Learn about local wildlife and ways to attract them through our fact sheets and sign up for our quarterly newsletter.
  4. Make a Donation! Did you know? You can help Maryland’s rare species by simply checking a box on your Maryland tax form! Learn more about the projects funded through the Tax Check Off.

    In addition, other ways to donate include:
  5. Report Rare Species - Maryland has over 1,250 rare, threatened and endangered species. Learn more about our different rare species and report any sightings that you may have.
  6. Report Invasive Plant Species - Be our eyes with the Statewide Eyes community science program. Attend a training and/or download the free Mid-Atlantic Early Detection Network mobile application to start documenting invasive plants today!
